If You Had A Choice
Surely Not
Have you ever really thought
You'd like to be something else,
Anything in the world
Even a little mouse?
***
I wonder what it would be like
To be an eagle soaring high,
You'd know that you and your kind
Would be the big boss of all the sky!
***
But then again you may prefer the jungle
To be a lion with a beautiful mane,
You'd be the king of your kingdom
And something never to be tamed!
***
Surely you wouldn't choose something simple
Especially not just a house fly,
Think of those huge nasty humans
One swat and your surely to die!
***
You know what I'd choose if I had the choice
I think it'd have to be a snake,
So calm, harmless and peaceful all winter
But I warn you, watch out when I wake!

About the Creator
Colleen Millsteed
My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
