If This Heatwave Lasts Forever

How will we all survive

If This Heatwave Lasts Forever

The pavement shimmers, skies are bare,
Even the wind forgets it’s there.
Birdsong softens in the trees,
Searching for a cooling breeze.

The roses bloom before their time,
Climbing higher every climb.
Fields once green now fade to gold,
Growing weary, growing old.

The oceans sigh against the shore,
Asking rain to come once more.
Every drop becomes a treasure,
Measured now beyond all measure.

The moon looks down through hazy light,
Watching restless, sleepless nights.
Fans keep turning without end,
Praying cooler days will send.

What if autumn lost its key?
What if winter ceased to be?
Would memories become our snow,
The only frost we’d ever know?

Would children build their dreams instead
From drifting petals, white not red?
Would stories of December’s grace
Become forgotten time and place?

The Earth has always breathed in rhyme,
Keeping faithful, perfect time.
Spring to summer, fall to frost,
A sacred rhythm never lost.

So may tomorrow gently bring
The promise every season sings.
For beauty lives in every change,
Not in summers that never wane.

Until the first cold morning comes,
And robin songs replace the hum,
We’ll treasure every fleeting day…
Yet hope the seasons find their way.
