If I were a color

If I were a colour, I would be pink

What feelings are linked with being pink?

Why do we associate it with feelings like flustered, blushing and cute?

Even so, I am a darker shade of pink

But no I’m deeper than a simple pink

If I were a colour, I would be rosewood

The colour rosewood made up of my skin tone and the anger I get from when I’m called dirty, unclean and others

Rosewood a mix of brown and red, rosewood the mix of my colour and my anger

If I were a colour, I would be rosy brown

Made up of the colours for my sexuality

Rosy brown, a mix of cyan, yellow and a magenta

The colours that I’ve been made fun of for

The colours that I’ve been laughed at and criticised for

the colours I’ve been told are wrong

But even so, these colours don’t sum me up entirely

I have times where I’m red and blue but I also have times when I’m yellow

But isn't that the same for everyone?

I know colours don’t have feelings, emotion nor a personality behind them

But what if they did? What if colours could describe us?

What if colours could become a personality?

If all our feelings turned into a colour, then

We would all be brown

Nothing else

Just brown

But our feelings don't come to us all at once

They rush in depending on the things around us

Sometimes our feelings clash and collide

Like a lovely red and captivating blue turned into a purple

Like a wave of lovely anger and captivating sadness turned into a mix of emotions

But after all that

I’m not brown nor pink

I’m not red or blue

I’m not purple

Then what am I?

I’m an array of colours.

A jumble

A mishmash

A disarrangement

W e a l l a r e

And that’s what makes us so u s

That’s just how pulchritudinous our colours are

Our colours change and so do we

Our colours grow with us

Just like how we grow

Like how we get older

How we lose and gain friends

How we lose and gain family
