the old floorboards creak

and the walls seem to whisper

all my senses are piqued

sensing some unseen visitor

raising my fears

and dropping the temperature

on the scale of raised hairs

this is topping the richter scales

cold chills and sighs

objects floating before me

things I can't see with my eyes

my senses make clear to me

I've been told that I'm crazy

and that there's nothing suspicious

though my tired eyes might be glazy

my feelings warn, things could turn vicious

so, I hide up under my sheets

surveying the shadows

no signs of movement yet

and nothing outside my windows

I guess I'll close my eyes

and try to fall into a sweet dream

when to my surprise

something beside me starts screaming
