Identity;

It is a Knowing, a reconciliation to oneself.

It is continually evolving, changing and always becoming more complete.

It's a picture ever being restored.

Pixel by pixel.

It looks backwards, as far back as man formed out of the dirt and evolved through the ages.

It looks clear-eyed at Today, no lies or obscuring.

It looks forward to tomorrow, relentlessly driving to the fullest.

It is a reconciliation that will not be forced, a collaborative effort

between self and the divine

between self and the universe

between self and community

Between all of ourselves

Knowing in the wholeness leads to loving.

When looking back, reaching into our blood, into our bones, into our cells, we find clues.

What is in my blood?

What is burned into my brain, collected and fused into my soul?

When looking forward, what absorbs into my skin from the land I live on?

From this soil that was stolen, it’s keepers murdered body, mind, and spirit?

Because the thing about the spirit is that it lives on, and however small the embers get, they remain.

All it takes is a spark to set alight a fire that was thought long dead.

And, catching the spirit of a place, it burns its way into you and you become one.

Allowing the identity of the land to soak in, taking the time to see and define the plants that surround us, the flowers that dance in the centre of our highways. The living things that share our homes and spaces -

Allowing the identity of the other to fuse with your own as you pursue this magical dance, and -

You begin to know it.

You begin to love, for to know is to love.

To love is to reconcile because Love is the divine, the universe, the life blood.

Loving is knowing and in it we are one.
