I won’t remember the autumn leaves,
Though they scatter and whisper goodbye.
I won’t recall how the rivers grieve,
When their lifeblood begins to run dry.
I won’t recall the sky’s faded hue,
Or the sun’s warmth sinking below.
All my mind holds is the thought of you,
Like the tide that refuses to go.
The echoes of time will slip from my hands,
And the world’s colors will blur and fade.
But your voice lingers, it firmly stands,
A melody my soul has replayed.
I won’t remember the storm’s fierce cry,
Or the stillness that follows the rain.
Your presence remains where shadows lie,
Etched deeper than joy, deeper than pain.
When the trees stand bare, when winds consume,
And the earth forgets what it once knew,
I’ll stand amidst the approaching gloom,
With one truth—I’ll remember you.
Though all else falls to the void of time,
Your name will endure, steadfast, sublime.
And when I, too, am nothing but air,
You’ll still live within my last whispered prayer.
