I Want to Become a Poem

When the Heart Wants to Become a Line

Sometimes I want to become a poem,
not the hand that writes it,
so I can live among the words
without having to explain
why the heart chooses someone.

I want to become a stanza
read slowly,
then kept inside the chest
when the night grows too long
and my own voice feels unfamiliar.

If my soul spells love,
maybe it knows no letters.
It spells it through a glance,
through longing that comes quietly,
through words still spoken
even when the lips choose silence.

I want to become a poem about you,
not the poet searching for words
to explain what I feel.
Let me become a sentence
you discover for yourself
when you are searching for the meaning of home.

Because love is like that.
It does not always ask to be held.
Sometimes it only wants to be written
gently,
then left to live
inside someone's heart.
