I SAT ALONE ON THE HOLIDAY

Unexpected Weather

Vicki Lawana Trusselli & my little Sweetie Bird, punk rocker

Even with all the horror in the world, Sweetie Bird has entered her full punk rock era, mohawk up, attitude sharp, tiny heart wide open.

She screams at the wrong songs, demands faster riffs, and mutters under her beak like a feathered riot grrrl philosopher.

But beneath the attitude, she remains what she has always been:

pure love in a loud world.

A reminder that even in chaos, something small and bright can still choose joy.

I SAT ALONE ON THE HOLIDAY

Unexpected Weather

I sat alone today,

as I do on every holiday.

Old bones, slow steps,

walk with a cane through the Valley I know,

where unexpected weather lives in people, not the sky,

and arrives without warning.

Still, I long for a kind heart,

a steady presence,

someone willing to begin

a new realm of unexpected weather

with me,

not against me.

Society trembles now,

angry and unmoored,

all of us standing on drifting sand.

Demons walk the earth in plain clothes

lies, distortion, and the dark swirl

that slips into good people

who once cared.

Who will remain

when the world tilts

and kindness becomes a risk?

Recognition is granted to the unethical,

while those who share,

those who soften,

are punished for their light.

This is how I cope

with a world turned upside down

where criminals run the halls of power,

and destruction is served

with polished silver.

Yet still, I pray.

Every day.

For love.

For peace.

For the return of balance.

No more good souls locked away

while the corrupt dine on wine

and sigh into velvet chairs.

To all realms of reality,

I release them.

Let them be.

I will let them be.

I give their chaos to the Universe

and ask only this:

Do not let them loose

to harm us again.
