I said no

After denial

By Kisama Riyo Published 2 years ago • 1 min read

I said: No, what tempts me after exile?

And in poetry mocks me and changes meanings?

I have repented for my mistakes, so who after humiliation will mourn me

And change my words and humiliate my sky and darken my colors?

In a garden whose fragrance beautifies me

Except the fragrant rose that perfumed my place?

O days, have changed the sorrows that were in my being?

And let me hide my sorrows with this violin

If my strings spoke, who filled my melodies

So my seas that raged in my flood changed?

So I lay down on a ship about to leave my homeland

When I stopped it for a few seconds, it laughed and said: My time has passed

O pen, ask about meanings, for my snow melted when it disobeyed me

And do not ask about who changed my colors in a time that exhausted me

For my mind is hot, my basil flowers have withered

And has my delirium afflicted the confused mind?

Who grieved for me with grief?

And wet with tears the eyes that bent in my eyelids?

And burned a star whose light guided me on the path of love?

Who saved me after repentance from my fires?

And brought joy to my heart and my conscience was delighted?

Other than you, my Creator and my Mercy

So I beg you now to return me to my homeland before it is too late

And will the aggressive exploitation of a land that was once an Arab destination succeed?
