i remember
(simply letting go is not a physical choice)

i remember everything
some of it and nothing at all
i held your hand and you held back
and then you let me fall
i remember falling
and being dashed upon the earth
out of my mind and out of control
so were you for what it was worth
i hold on to the memories
you can’t take them away
i can remember everything
like it was only yesterday
i hold on to all our yesterdays
they’re in my head and there to stay
i can try and i often deny
but i won’t make them go away
i remember nothing
every little nothing we had to say
nothing is what we had to give
and it was nothing we took away
i remember walking…
away from everything that day
nothing was all i had to take
and nothing could make me stay
i remember bits and pieces
i relive them once in a while
some have the power to hurt me still
but most just make me smile
i thought i was finally over you
but that’s not happened yet
i remember everything
everything i want to forget

"nothing is what we had to give and it was nothing we took away" I'm utterly speechless. Absolutely stunning! All of our exes have made us better writers, haven't they?
