I Remember Forgetting
Those memories were mine, now they're all wrapped in twine.

I can’t remember what I said last December,
The past slips fast from my hands.
When I dive into the deep recesses of my mind,
I can’t plant myself back in time.
Isn’t it funny how my memories are runny,
Dripping through my fingertips.
I could have filed them in folders,
But stacks are hidden under boulders.
But oh, my dear, I’ve a clear picture of you.
I repeat it, beat it, and flee.
Though I’d rather bury you in mud,
You continue to shine anew.
I don’t believe it’s fair,
After years, I’m the one bare.
Those memories were mine,
Now they’re all wrapped in twine,
And I have nothing to remember.
