I Murdered Him

The knife was still in his heart. He was dead

I Murdered Him

The whispers of true love

fell from your lips,

I couldn’t believe it,

my darling husband.

My heart thumped,

those words ached.

Then, your voice spoke

of another

A woman unknown.

Enraged, my mind blanked.

When reality returned,

you were on the floor,

a knife in your heart.

I crouched, in shock,

blood on my hands.

I think I passed out.

The next moment,

you shook me awake.

“Come on, darling,”

you said,

“It’s time to get up.”

Reality hit, oh boy

just a dream.

A dream of what I’d do

if you ever cheated.

I think I would kill

not you, but our love.

Betrayal, no way, never.

My fear rules me

a recurring dream

each time,

unbalanced by the thought

of losing you.

If you only knew my mind,

my sweet darling,

you would hate me, I think?
