I'm sorry I'm me

On Repeat

I tell her

I'm sorry I'm me

That doesn't sound like someone who's proud of their identity

To be honest I don't even know what it means anymore

It's definition lost in my repetition

Most phrases

When repeated

Can sound magical

Or mystical

Like a spell being cast

On an unsuspecting soul

Others

Like a prayer

Forced through the lips of begrudging choir boys

Who partake in the weekly act of repeating words they hold no meaning in. Or see any in at least.

I think I'm somewhere in between

I don't repeat to mystify

Enchant

Or obscure

And I definitely don't repeat begrudgingly

I think it's more of a self soothe

Or a self preserver

Letting her know

I know

That I feel like a lot

And that I'm sorry

And that I wish I was not
