I’m Sorry…

I Should Have Done More…

By Donnie BarlowPublished about a year ago • 1 min read
Can you forgive me?

I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you

When you needed it

I’m sorry I wasn’t strong enough

To preserve your innocence…

I’m sorry I haven’t—

Been the friend you expected…

I’m sorry for being selfish

Leaving you feeling helpless

And neglected…

I’m sorry I didn’t—

Build your confidence

Like I needed to…

I’m sorry

I struggled

With learning to love you…

I’m sorry

I wasn’t present

I know it’s been a struggle…

I’m sorry if I led you astray

That was never my intention…

I’m sorry for being dishonest

Or Never expressing my feelings…

I’m sorry

A million times over

And a million times more

I’m sorry

For being sorry

Knowing you’ve always deserved more…
