I'll Go Back to the Start
poem/song about facing rejection

I think I have my answer…
In your silence.
I wish I was stronger…
But I'm way too sensitive.
/
I’ve made things awkward…
Just couldn’t leave it all alone.
Feel like a broken record…
No one's blame but my own.
/
If I stole your peace,
I give it back with a sorry.
I step on my own feet,
And I speak too softly.
Loneliness does scary things,
And it breaks your own heart.
I’ll get it over it eventually,
And I’ll go back to the start.
/
It sucks to get so attached…
To idealizations and fantasies.
I’m just trying to fill a gap,
A chasm of emptiness and misery.
/
This was never even a thing
But an infatuation and obsession.
Let’s forget I said anything.
My burdens are not your problem.
/
If I stole your peace,
I give it back with a sorry.
I step on my own feet,
And I speak too softly.
Loneliness does scary things,
And it breaks your own heart.
I’ll get it over it eventually,
And I’ll go back to the start.
/
Yes, I'll shatter like all the times before.
Yes, I'll pick up every piece off the floor.
Know that I only did this to myself,
You're not to blame for my fragile shell.
I'd never want you to feel pressured or coerced.
/
If I stole your peace,
I give it back with a sorry.
I step on my own feet,
And I speak too softly.
Loneliness does scary things,
And it breaks your own heart.
I’ll get it over it eventually,
And I’ll go back to the start.
