I Lit a Candle for your Soul
And it mattered not

I lit a candle for your soul and
Sent it into empty night
The smoke from its flame extinguished
Felt like the day he took your light.
I struck a match on a piece of wax and wick
Though it made no difference
The rituals I had come to know
Had made you no less sick.
Oh, but your beauty made no matter
Beautiful things die everyday
Surely there must be reasons
Please bow your head and pray.
So still we practice magic
Still pretend to have control
Though you are no less dead
I lit a candle for your soul.
