I Lay Next to You in Bed

A Poem

Today, I lay next to you in bed

You are sick and I am sickly in love

I am not sure if you feel the same way

But I feel it enough for both of us.

Today, I lay next to you in bed

You are already asleep, but you won't stop running through my head

I still question your love for me when your hands don't reach for me in your sleep

Even if I was blindfolded I could pick out your rough hands

Tonight, I lay next to you in bed

I am silently crying and you are silently sleeping

Your soft exhales mimic my inhales and I would love to wake you

But we've fallen into a pattern

It all goes good 'til one thing breaks

Tonight, my heart broke.

I still lay next to you in bed

You still fill my head.

I know what's in your head now.
