I Just Can't Seem to Let You Go
From My Book of Poetry, 'Tales from the Book of Paradox'
Back in the days
When I still had you
I didn't need anyone else at all
But if I could have
Looked at the future
The scenes would have stained
My crystal ball
Since you've been gone
The joker's laughing
Guess you must have done some funny things
I've tried and I've tried
Hard to forget you
But I can't escape the dreams my nighttime brings
I just can't seem to let you go
Can't help but let my feelings show
You let me down and it hurt me so
But I just can't seem to let you go
Made in the shade
Nothing could be better
We were two young lovers
Getting our kicks
Then I worked late
11 till 7
And you went to somebody else
For your fix
Sometimes the truth
Is hard to swallow
When your hit with facts
You don't want to face
But the pedestal I've put you on
Has crumbled
And the pieces are beginning
To fall into place
Came home late
A car was leaving
The scene of a crime
That's already solved
Kick in the door
Your throat's in my fingers
No one's around
To hear your calls
I just can't seem to let you go
Can't help but let my feelings show
You let me down and it hurt me so
But I just can't seem to let you go
