I hope really bad things happen to you
A poem about someone who deserves it
Reclaiming my life
Toxic love, a poison seeping
Into my veins, is slow and creeping
The feeling of worthlessness and of shame
Is a never-ending cycle, a toxic game
He took and took, until there was nothing left
My soul was battered, my spirit a victim of theft
He degraded me, humiliated me, raped me too
I was trapped, with nowhere to turn, I had no clue
But I found the strength, the courage to flee
To leave behind the pain and the misery
I rode a greyhound, far across the land
To start a new life, to take a new stand
But the memories linger, the fear remains
The nightmares haunt me, the anxiety strains
I see his black eyes, I feel his cold touch
I fear his return, I fear too much
But I have a partner, kind and true
He wants to protect me, to start anew
He stands between us, ready to defend
But the threat is unpredictable, impossible to comprehend
I am a shell, of the person I once was
Burdened by trauma, it’s all because
He was toxic, a cancer consuming me
But I will heal, I will be free
I will rise above, I will find my way
I will not let him, ruin my days
I will break the cycle, I will find my voice
I will reclaim my life, I will make a choice
To love myself, to be kind through and through
To surround myself with people, who love me too
I will not let him define who I am
I will take control, I will take a stand
I will not be a victim, but a survivor
I will thrive and do whatever I desire
I will release the toxicity I’ve held for so long
And will spend every day proving that asshole wrong
