I Have Written Myself Empty of Words
The birth of a new story
I have written myself empty of words
Do not misunderstand me
there are still plenty
but a story has taken them
as it was meant to.
The satisfaction of finishing
The certainty that no more should be written
A circle is completed, making a whole
A new existence approaches
when the editing is allowed to put an end to it.
A tension has built up
Like an impending birth
still unseen and hidden from sight
I turn concepts and phrases
weighing the pros and cons.
An author’s labor pains can drag out
like a wicked wisdom tooth
that must be removed
by force
leaving a void behind.
I am approaching
the publication
Will the world see my labor
Or read it only
with half an eye.
