I Have This Dream
A Poem by Gaille Hunter
I Have This Dream
Everyone keeps telling me
Written in stone is the end we see
We can’t change the story now
Still I keep hoping somehow
Everywhere I turn an angry face
Silent tears screaming hate
Can’t turn back the hands of fate
But I know it’s not too late
I have this dream, this I believe
That together we can break
the chain of fear and sorrow
No matter how dark the shadow grows
I have this dream
Scared to take another chance
Crushing sobs in bleeding hands
We can share this precious land
With just one simple plan
I have this dream, this I believe
We can turn the hands of time
and live in peace as brothers
No matter how far the dust may blow
I have this dream
Promises melt like rain
Hope retreats with every gain
Who can solve this mystery?
Only you and me
I have this dream this I believe
We can love each other through
even our darkest hour
No matter how faint the candle glows
I have this dream
I have this dream, this I believe
There’s a wave of peace
to wash away this pain and sorrow
Reaching to the corners of my heart
I have this dream
I have this dream this I believe
that beyond this wall of tears
there shines a bright tomorrow
No matter how dark the shadow grows
No matter how far the dust may blow
No matter how faint the candle glows
I have this dream
