I Forgive You

A Poem

I forgive you for it all

the anger carved so deep

the way you left to 'save yourself'

and for all the scars I keep

❤️‍🩹

I forgive the look in your eyes

and all the words you spoke

I forgive the times you yelled

and every promise broke

❤️‍🩹

you’re not a monster, only ill

your sickness dug our grave

I forgive you for the lies

and for what we couldn't save

❤️‍🩹

The lies were yours alone, not mine

yet I was bound in chains

they creeped in and stole our trust

and left me with remains

❤️‍🩹

I won’t pretend it didn’t sting

the wound still burns in me

but bitterness would rot my soul

so I choose to set it free

❤️‍🩹

This isn’t begging, not a plea

The doors aren't open wide

I grant you grace, though undeserved

and walk away with pride
