i feel... numb
stream of thoughts from a women
“I support you,” you jeered
amplified, ensuring we heard
we heard.
for how would you feel good
if no one knew. what a
supporter you are!
sharing that post
your female coworker made
how clever, take her words
you had nothing to say.
I’m a feminist! you oozed
explained the meaning
we nodded along
ignoring the blight
blinded by the spotlight
that never points to us
you skipped aside
letting us dream
patting my back
while aiming the dagger
held my hand
as you kick my knees
your chalk art was nice
but April showers
washed it away.
perhaps May’s sun
scorched the residue
faded the memory
to a wisp , for
June snatched my choice
another Friday for you
as the barricade
slammed into me
are you coming back?
it’s funny really
not really but I
really have no say
in any way
the way they made
me think I did
was the cruelest thing
residual disgust
coats my throat
burns my eyes
echoing silence, louder
than the decree
the worst part is
I was... surprised.
you may confine us
but not define us
who do you expect my
womb to beget, sir?
claiming golden possibilities
when in brutal reality, the
real possibility of life
begetting only tragedy.
a once-promising future
ruined from an
unaffordable burden
not necessarily unloved
just unwanted
and that is the choice
you stole from her
