I Dreamt of My Guardian Angel

A dream from the night of 12/27/21

As I lay there in the arms

Of my guardian angel

Knowing such love

And mercy made human

I found compassion

As my blood dripped to the floor

My wounds were real

But my hurt was no more

My friends looked on

And whipped me with delight

Knowing that punishment

Is what I deserve

But how could a King teach us to love

If he first did not teach us to serve

I lay there half alive

Knowing that death

Is the wages of my days

But in the arms

Of my strong protector

I was safely out of harm's way
