A grayed moon gleamed close
Surrounded by flowing blackness,
Like dense blades of grass.
I focused my mind on what this was
Swiftly stepped back from the dark,
It was the eye of a wolf.
Two moons now as the beast turned
Staring with a shadowed face,
Slow gusts of air wrapped around me.
My mind saw a red grin of mountains
Opening to an endless tunnel depth,
It was the snout of a wolf.
There were no stars in this savage sky
His breath a damp wind of demise,
A howl interrupted my nightly thoughts.
I centered my mind on a single light
Shivered and threw myself forward,
It was the soul of a wolf.
