I dreamed of you again

By Katriana S. TobiasPublished 4 months ago 1 min read

I dreamed of you again

with that future nostalgia of science fiction

a world imagined in sleek shapes and vivid neon

but in this lifetime, all ideas in a vacuum, never real.

I dreamed of you again

Why remind me after years

that try as I might, I'm not fully free?

If you're now gone, then let me dream in peace.

I dreamed of you again

with a distant, quiet tug of heart

Did you ever? I wonder, but won't try to ask.

If I sit still long enough, this ache will give up on me and then leave.

I dreamed of you again

a part of me lingered, not letting go still

clinging to whatever ghost of your presence I'm keeping within.

So I come back and take her hand - let's return now, your home is with me.

I dreamed of you again

No tears, no sense of a loss, but this time, just calm

I'm whole once more now and I will be - with you or without.

I'm no longer hating myself for shattering my heart.

Myocardium does not regrow, always leaves a scar.

The capacity to love, however? That one... that one might.
