I Dream of Statism

What is the State's proper role in the individual's life?

Yep?

I dream of statism, but it’s really

A nightmare. I think of government might

And how the State gets all touchy feely

With my money, my life and my own right.

Like a brute who pursues any victim,

Prowling to erase away all that’s free,

The State seeks only to be a hoodlum.

Can’t the government just let me be me?

Those who cry that rights have all but collapsed

Don’t know the nature of man or his ways.

The State’s like an addict who has relapsed

And aims to cause the destruction of days.

Statism is the ugly mongrel of

Hatred of man and earth, devoid of love.
