I don’t want to write about Dragons
Why I didn’t enter the competition
I don’t want to write about dragons
I don’t have anything against them
And there’s nothing wrong with my imagination
But dragons, elves, wizards whatever
I assume they populate fantasy tales
Leave me a bit cold
So I hardly think I could do a story about them justice
Besides everything dramatic, horrific, funny and bizarre
That makes for reading that will draw you in
Occurs in the plane of this reality
I know, I know … escapism, right?
Who needs to read about man’s inhumanity to man..
I do understand
But for me
I’d rather write and read about
What happens around here.
Frequently more dramatic
Than a giant winged reptile
Breathing fire

Definitely understand your point of view!!! Love you poem!!!
Totally with you on this one!
Love the title. Pulled me in. Counter point of view: the beauty of fiction is that you can turn it into any story you want. My entree is about a mother and her daughter (they just so happen to be half-dragons). :)
