I didn't know

a friend i wasn't sure of

I was unaware

Of what you thought of me.

I thought I was the friend who

Sat by the sidelines

Watching everyone else

Have fun.

I thought I was the added extra

Dragged along

To make up numbers

To be another pretty face

In the crowd.

Yet when I was lost in my own thoughts

Lost in my own head

My own solace:

A place of empty and alone.

You found me.

You brought me safe and sound

To earth again.

You told me I was worth the world,

But you were worth more.

The universe was waiting for you,

While I hid my head in shame

at my own thoughts
