I began as a doll.

Not any particular type of doll,

nothing glamorous.

~

An inherently plain wooden doll,

not very large in size.

~

My skin was painted the hue of tobacco,

my hair dipped in jet black ink.

~

As it happened,

one day I came across a book of Buddhist scriptures,

from which I learnt that in order to escape samsara,

it is considered most favourable

if you are a member of the human realm.

~

So here I am,

not long after that,

as a human girl.
