i am the colour of blood

i am the colour of blood

i

am

the

colour

of blood.

i seep

through the

torn fabric

of broken hearts

and shattered

dreams,

evidence

that all

is not

lost

yet.

i

am

the

colour

of blood.

i am a

life source

carrying

nutrients

of joy, silliness

and laughter

through constricted

passages,

denoting desperate

need of open-heart

surgery.

i

am

the

colour

of blood.

i surge

through

the blue veins

of a world

bent on destruction,

yet mesmerized

by beauty;

carrying

coagulants

that conglomerate

the paper thin hope

of those

hanging

by a thread.

i

am

the

colour

of blood.

i pour out

of deep

wounds

and soak

through bandaids

that

masquarade

as long-term

solutions;

'cover up attempts'

that do

nothing

to stymie

the tide of

loss

and sorrow.

i

am

the

colour

of blood.

i bring

grown men

to their knees,

for without me,

they cannot live--

one well placed

shot

and i become

a patchwork map

of red,

pinpointing

that precarious

moment

when life

morphs into

death.

i

am

the

colour

of blood.

and when

i ebb

silently away,

there will be

no uncertainty

that a surging,

burgeoning

entity

has left

her mark

on this life.
