I am a haunted house

This house is haunted, some might say.

Too many have found themselves lost in its sprawling, winding corridors, only to emerge trembling, unable to speak of what they've seen.

Many have ventured these halls and deigned to call them a home; the walls thick with memories of those that have left their mark-- a chipped layer of paint, the ghost of a long standing picture frame, stained and mysterious. It's been gone for so long, it would be impossible to say what once hung with what i'm sure was pride.

The poltergeists of this houses history still linger, memories of laughter echoing from each dusty corner, holes left unpatched, cracks crawling across its abandoned surfaces.

I wonder if they were ever as beautiful and pristine as I recall.

Looking around now at what it has to offer, though rich in history, it may as well be condemed.

But,

Inexplicably,

Along you came, delighting in the madness of such a dreary place,

Running your fingers along each warped and weathered facet, as if it were made from the most precious marble, Gingerly opening the curtains, not just to let the light in, but to give this place a glimpse of the landscape it stands upon.

This house has stood for many years, but for the first time, it is a home-

Croaking and settling, reaching out for you.
