I Am A Crazy Thought

I am a crazy thought inside your head.
I dance around when you go to bed.
I pull your memories out one by one.
Then hide them away just for fun.

I sat on the clock and changed the time.
I told your reason that you were mine.
I asked the moon why it followed me.
It said you are mad as mad can be.

I climbed in the kettle looking for tea.
The kettle got angry and shouted at me.
I jumped in a cup and hid from sight.
Then floated upstairs in the dead of night.

I found an old thought asleep in a chair.
It woke up screaming why are you there?
I said I got lost somewhere in your brain.
Then both of us danced in the pouring rain.

I knocked on a memory locked away.
It opened the door and asked me to stay.
I told it tomorrow was yesterday too.
It looked rather worried and said is that true?

I wandered around where your dreams are kept.
I found one laughing while another one wept.
I asked them both what they wanted from me.
They said we want out so please set us free.

I opened the window inside of your mind.
A hundred strange thoughts were stood in a line.
One wore your slippers and one wore a hat.
And one was discussing the moon with the cat.

I tried to escape through the hole in your ear.
But something inside said you live in here.
I shouted I dont even pay any rent.
It said that explains where your sanity went.

I am the thought that will never sit still.
I run up your worries and roll down the hill.
I sleep in the corner then wake with a shout.
Just when you think you have figured me out.

So if you are wondering what I might be.
I am just your madness pretending its me.
A crazy old thought with nowhere to go.
And where I will end up nobody knows
