Hymn of Overwhelming Fate

Pushing the buttons one should not push.

Storm on the Sea - Mychaila A. Rose

Hear the voices coming from the street

The screams that follow are sure to meet

I toll around in faded faith

A desperate hope; a chilling wraith

The secrets that are whispers in a wind

I cannot fathom; meaning thinned.

The metallic taste upon my tongue

An afterthought to the collapse that hung

The rise and fall of lands and places

Yet people somehow left their traces

Rinse and repeat; it never seems ends

And I wonder still why it always blends.

Sweat combined with tears on my cheeks

Nothing is warm to the chill of shrieks

In desperation, running or hiding it matters not

The cuts and gashes never clot.

Agony and bliss are much the same

All will be kindling to the heartless flame

Burning cities and a world of plastic

The stinging stench is hauntingly fantastic

Round and round, the smoke grates

The blood and tears, raise the rates

Death and life; both are just lies

They all think otherwise

They can not see what has begun

But perhaps it started long before rivers run

It’s all a game for who is most blind

I want to see their worlds unwind.

A failed system this society has wrought

‘All of it,’ I demand, ‘should crumble and rot!’
