Hues

colours of what was, and could, then be

By Liam DaguePublished 5 years ago 2 min read
self

alone

one can be many,

melted hues mixing with light into infinity

this

Yellow

permeates through, tinting my view, as always, in the natural warmth,

beginning as often as a breath, and just as fleeting, this feeling

cascades down upon all things bleeding into

Orange

afternoons, as well as mornings on occasion, succinct and in flux, yet

succulent and tangible; a reminder of a loud but tame sweetness held often

in between sublime shadows, brimming with soul and connected directly to

Red

who releases itself no one; marooned am I in convalescent thoughts when

gifted with your teeming saturated hue, though I do not fear you, only the

potential for what you may bring: a harsh trail that flows deeper toward

Purple,

the stop withheld in dreams, a universality of unborn thoughts, but also of

complicated and fragmented memories through which creation roams

abroad, waiting to be mixed in tandem with

Blue

fantasies that remain steadfast, reassuring structure and poise, but held

from afar often as complacent and an easy choice, for what could it do

alone, cold and unaware, if not paired against

Green

fields, hills awash in gentle unobtrusive tones, trees stretching and grass

singing the harmonies of all living beings: of entropy again and again

brought on all by itself to the bewilderment of every moment’s memory

though without light, all is removed

into a void, but not without purpose

transformed, inevitably, where it may rest again;

Black,

the subjugator of all objects whose absence of being manifests the

uncountable unconsciousness, a return to that subliminal space within,

maintaining that all came from nothing; the one finality, yet

Grey,

who knows neither formality nor confines, holds a persistent muse in

balance, meandering monotones often misused and of little want,

disregarded throughout the seasons, loathed for its promise of rain; truth

and as one

finds harmony again, it

becomes all

White,

the container of all subjects, preaching pale purity in its sterile subjugation,

a whole prism of reflection and security, of fragilities long forgotten, of a

luminous oasis to drown in; halting rapture found in the permeance of self.
