How to Know You Cooked the Bacon Just Right

After My Friends

It’s in the smell

You pass by and it reminds you of the last

time you ate it

Like it was yesterday

Because it was yesterday

Your Saturday

Riding

Your hair in all its kinks and curls

Messy and perfect

Your friends messy and perfect

As you drive past lights and sound and

possibly the speed limit to safety

To party

The life you never knew

Lights and sound and awkward

conversations

But they pass and you pass

And you live life with friends loyal

To the night and the never ending and the

McDonald’s afterwards

Taking the night or what’s left of it before

your dad kills you

Remind yourself today’s your lazy Sunday

Take the bacon and let the taste

remind you

Of what living was
