And feel.

How thick is the air?

By: Candice Wills

So today I woke up feeling extremely heavy. Not like in body mass or anything more like in

my aura, my immediate space. Literally feeling the weight of my world being pressed upon me like broken pipes waiting to burst. Putting me in the headspace of a child again. Terrifying right? Well when I was 14 years old my Bestfriend was killed in a drunk driving accident. From the moment I came home and the news slipped from my mothers lips I instantly dropped to the ground as if the air around me was so thick it weighed me down, but for years this time.

Starting the normal routine of depression at an early age can really cause someone like me who feels every emotion in a physical form to dive deeper in their mind than the average 14 year old should be allowed to. Meaning I don’t break, I shatter in places no one can find.

Until one day the moon gave me the answers the night I wrote my first song. From poetry to music I slowly began to feel my aura lighten again. I was able. I AM able !

Writing music saved my life in ways my best friend did during the short amount of time we shared ! I use to think that to understand someone you must understand their point of view in order to truly relate. Luckily through my writing therapy I have unlocked tools in my mind in which I am able to express someone else’s story, life and path without ever having gone through their pain. I simply explain it as everything I write and create has already been written and I am just a vessel to heal others through my storytelling and Songwriting.

Imagine being a librarian obsessed with the idea of escaping the physical realm, via reading

books from all over the world. With each book leaving them with the pure nostalgic feeling of escaping their world. Becoming the main character or even the villain if they so choose. I mean in a way isn’t that the true beauty of it all? To be able to pick and choose when and where, What and how the story plays out in the end.

Becoming the narrator of worlds beyond your reach. That is the exact freedom I receive when writing music. I am able to create whatever world I so choose. Through my music I begin to reach levels of knowledge that get me through my day to day life. Using my passion to heal my own pain. So no matter how thick the air around me becomes I am able to release the pressure and relieve my pain. Through my PASSION through my music.
