How Silent is Time

How silent is time as she peeks in the crib

another slave born

to laugh and to mourn

crafted in wisdom from dust and from rib.

How lofty is time as she heralds the youth

the heart is deceived

innocence grieved

death is conceived

as rosy red kiss betrays venomous tooth.

How angry is time as she stands to accuse

to infinite fire

the thief and the liar

whose wrenched entire

is covered in mire

the judgement is just and death comes to bruise.

How awestruck is time as she looks at the Son

love like rain

pumps through veins

washing stains

breaking chains

perfection slain

salvation obtained

Death is defeated, the battle is won.

How blessed is time when at long last has died

when she is forgotten

her garments have rotten

by the Only Begotten

who will reign forever as the Head of His bride.

Forever glorified.

Definitely surreal! The Biblical themes can be though. I love the idea of time as a bystander with a full range of emotions as she watches our creation, straight through to our redemption until time is no longer needed. Beautiful. Well done on earning top story.
