How Dare I?

A Poem

By Flow BelinskyPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

How Dare I?

How dare I

Be so radiant and colorful

When the world is painted

White and drab?

Dreary snow clouds the air

Shrouding even the simple hues

Of brown and green around.

Piles of powder line the ground.

Black turned grey

And grey is white—

Everything, blurry.

The severe weather is

Working to bring me down

And dust me colorless, too.

Yet I walk sure-footed,

Careful not to slip on ice,

Marching through it,

Choosing to dance onto

The softer parts of snow,

Singing songs of ecstasy

Into the frigid air.

I want to spill my load

Over the landscapes of snow

Coloring the world

With fresh ideas,

Sparkling the scene with a vibrancy

That ripples over the fabric of

This winter uniformity.

I am a spunky spectrum

Of multi-toned aliveness

Longing to project outward,

To dazzle the environment—

Spreading joy for the sake of it,

Living art and making it,

Birthing what I feel inside.

Dare I?
