Black
Compared to plagues and ice on winter streets. Stepped on like gravel, as I jay walk I notice there’s no difference between you and I my friend. We are more than black within. The soil of gods and kings where we grew, the pyramids are only the peak. Shoot for the stars and know there’s no light without our reflection. Scribe and read between the lines but we are the ink. When you close your eyes; we are what gives you peace. I often wonder what’s the missing the link as I detangle my hair locked in a kink. When will we unify like the names of our streets? From Malcolm X to Fredrick Douglas and Dr. King. We are natural born leaders, it’s in our genes. I mean what’s better than black jeans, your favorite shirt low key, elegance but essential to the T. I enjoy being me. Unapologetically black; light to dark, I love the shades of our people. We make our own rainbow, a dozen chocolates from Hershey.

The Voyeur's Incandescent Reasoning
The woman sat nonplussed, in the Waiting Room. In a sort of daze, looking straight ahead patiently. She had already had three small breakfast's that morning and a nip of sherry, this was not unusual she would typically wait until an hour after she took her anti-depressant and was her morning routine. She was merely following instructions she assured herself, shifted slightly in her seat and feeling a little heart burn thought, maybe she should skip lunch. Dom had said to have the task done this week. She was well used to his methods and desired to get this over and done with soon. She glanced at her watch, smiled weakly at the Receptionist who was there for a moment and then gone.
