Hot Tea

Thoughts of Family and Home

By Michelle KirkPublished 9 years ago 1 min read

An ice cube

crackles

when submerged

into hot tea.

Hot tea swells

and descends slowly down

the esophagus

to a lake

in the soul.

“Letʼs warm ourselves up from the inside out,”

my mom would say

as she made us hot tea on a cold night.

Cold judgments and fears melt

when submerged

into thoughts

of family

nd home.
