I never feel more

like a single dad

than when I eat a

Hot Pocket. Alone

in the house. Just me:

the kids with their mom.

The dogs are gone too.

So I have a quiet

evening. I don’t

want to cook, so I

open the wrappers.

Microwave a few.

And sit at my spot

at the table. Alone.

I’m okay with it.

It’s a new normal.

But I am waiting

for something else to

start over again.
