Horde of Mutant Pigs

A poem

By Will SilvaPublished 4 years ago • 2 min read

I had a dream one night

Of the weirdest kind

Where I was chased through the streets

By a horde of mutant swine

They were all different colors

Green, blue, and red

They snorted and grunted

As they charged ahead

I ran as fast as I could

But they were hot on my heels

I could feel their breath on my neck

As I navigated through the streets

I turned down alleyways

And ducked behind trash bins

But no matter where I hid

They always found me again

I was tired and out of breath

But I knew I had to keep going

I had to find a way to escape

From these mutant pigs who were showing

No mercy, no compassion

Just a relentless, insatiable hunger

I had to find a way to outsmart them

Or my fate would be in their hands, no longer

I finally spotted an open door

To an abandoned warehouse on the edge of town

I ran inside and slammed it shut

And collapsed to the ground, panting and bound

But as I lay there, gasping for air

I heard the snuffling and snorting of the pigs

Outside the door, getting closer and closer

I knew I had to get up and figure

Out a way to escape this dream

That seemed to have no end

I stumbled to my feet

And started searching for a way to defend

Myself against these mutant swine

Who seemed to be getting smarter and more cunning

I grabbed a piece of pipe

And prepared myself for the coming

Storm of snarling, snapping teeth

And hooves that pummeled the ground

I swung my pipe with all my might

As the pigs burst through the door, bound

For me, their intended prey

But I was ready for them this time

I swung and swung and swung

Until they lay defeated, in their prime

I woke up with a start

My heart racing and my body drenched in sweat

That was the wildest dream

I've ever had, I'll bet

But even now, I can't shake

The feeling of being chased

By those mutant swine

Through the streets, in a frantic race

For survival, for freedom

From their ravenous, unending hunger

It was a nightmare I'll never forget

And it still gives me a shiver, even now, as I ponder

The strange and surreal things

That our minds can conjure in the night

When the moon is full and the stars are bright

And the boundaries between reality and dream take flight.
