HOPE

It's a choice

New idea for me
Wish I'd heard it long ago

There are only two messages
in a marketing campaign

Just two?
Nah- gotta be more

But wait me out here
Distill
them
Down
deep
into the basics

One message uses fear
so that you'll buy
what they are selling
or things will go horribly
terribly
unrecoverably
BAD.

invented odors
wasted money
rising costs
unhealthy choices
sickness
ruined relationships
untrustworthy neighbors moving into your neighborhood
taking your jobs
taking your food
missing out on
the
cool
newest
thing

One uses hope
and paints a picture
of possibilities

Think:
'I'd like to teach the world to sing....' for Coke
Apple's
"Here's to the crazy ones... that change the world"
Think Clydesdale horses and puppies... and
Budweiser.
John Lewis'
holiday commercials
Dove soap celebrating
the beauty in everyone
Pandora's eventual gift
passed down through the ages

Both work
They must
or
No one would
keep making them
both
work
on you
on me
on us

It's a choice
every day
a choice
where we give our attention
what we give
entry
into our
minds and souls
what message
we play on repeat
in our minds
our dreams
give our focus
retrain our eyes

I choose Hope.
I
choose
Hope
