Hope

A Poem

By Keaka KahananuiPublished 9 years ago • 1 min read

Water flows through our veins and nourishes us.

Essential for our survival.

Now it boils,

evaporates and runs dry,

a desert within our hearts,

the parched earth tormented by the harsh sun of obligation.

Frustration: 97°

Malice: 106°

Failure: 121°

The animals disappear and the seeds we planted for ourselves never sprout.

Saplings wither and die.

Pray for rain.
