Purified

Crystallised

Sugar and syrup.

Delicate, tender

The perfect mix.

Over the shoulder

A gentle touch

Of freshness;

Apples and pears

Their flowers intoxicating

For the honeybees

Greedily enjoying honeycomb

In the lazy blinks of the sun.

Light filters and shines

Through every leaf

Casting skeletal shadows

And gorgeous scents

All around the flower fields.

Follow the brush

Of wind through branches;

Swallow fresh air

And decorate ringlets

With woven crowns

Of daisies.

This is the apple orchard;

The haven for the flying insects

And tired birds who are in love.

With the sun-kissed skin of the lizards

Memorised by the etches in the stones,

And the held hands

Of friends sharing Polaroid secrets,

Overlooked maternally

By every hourly shift of the sun.

Beautiful, irreplaceable youth

The betrayal of late nights

And tyre swings;

Storytelling

In messily sewn hammocks

Painting new myths for constellations

While even the lost insects

And lonely nocturnals

Still their chattering to dream.
