Homeless

A poem

By alan piercePublished 6 years ago 1 min read

Oh an innocent man

came into the land

teaching all men to love and be free

And the people all cried

"with him on our side,

surely now we will have victory"

But his life he laid down

and in sin he did drown

as darkness covered over the land

But he conquered my pride

and sin, it did die

given into redeemer's hand

Then the morning awoke

bringing freedom and hope

for those who were trapped beneath shame

For he ransomed the lost

at the foot of the cross

bringing vic'try in the power of his name

Yeah, the vic'try was won

by the life of the Son

heaven's gates flung open-- so wide!

And the darkness has lost

at the foot of the cross

and our king is waiting inside

And our freedom has come--

every battle was won--

when the stone went rolling away

As the morning star dawned

and our chains are all gone

oh sing what a glorious day

There's an old broken cross

that was conquered for us

and heaven smiles down from above

Now the king with no land

and nail scarred hands

singing "come be renewed by love"
