I brace myself

Eye of the storm mocking me

With a false sense of security

A reminder that this is all but a moment

Amongst the magnitude

Of all that is

And all that will be.

I brace myself

Knowing that I alone travel

Pausing in place to ponder

To wonder as I wander

Where it is I go and why

But the clouds either lack the answers

Of refuse to send them down with the rain

I brace myself

Against the winds of turmoil

And the questions on questions

That only lead to answers

That birth more of their forebears

Until I am lost in the debris

And the storm becomes my home

I brace myself

Uncertain in the chaos

If I have trodden the right path

Or led myself astray

Blinded by the visage of others

Distracted by their concepts

That are just glitter on the dirt

I brace myself

Knowing that this is the birthplace

Of everything to come

Whilst also being the gave

Of the life that I once knew

And carefully place flowers

In respect of them both

I brace myself

To take a step forward

And then another

Until I have split the sea of fog

And find myself there

No longer searching

But home
