Home is Where the Heart Is

It May Sound Crazy, But It's Home

*****This poem perfectly describes our home. With six kids, life can be pretty chaotic. Some see it as chaos; I see it as home.

Awakening to a sun drenched window,

Bolt upright from a trundle bed,

Child grabs stuffed bear and a pillow,

Dashing to the couch instead.

Eager to sing songs with Dora,

Fan of Franklin, Barney too.

Galloping to breakfast table,

Howling winds, a storm’s a brew.

Ideal day to stay in jammies,

Jumping, spinning ‘cross the floor.

Keeping little brother from

Lego town, and so much more.

Making favored sugar cookies,

Nuts “no way,” but sprinkles “yes.”

Ordering a cheesy pizza,

Pudding pops a slimy mess.

Quest of courage ‘round the kitchen,

Raising swords to vanquish foes.

Superman cape, a flannel sheet,

Tripping, ‘cause it snags on toes.

Up on top of metal bunk bed,

Vic’try flight into the air.

Wings not working, crash assured,

X-ray at the Urgent Care.

Yellow sucker calms the patient,

Yowling sobs to quiet cries.

Zipping home, the day is over,

Zany encore, next sunrise.
