Is there anybody home?

No, you’re gone.

Gone chasing cardboard dreams

Always conforming to society’s schemes.

***

Where are you now?

Can you even hear me?

Lost in the static

Slave to the matrix

Twisting and turning

And never aligning.

How could you though

When you’re not whole?

***

A ghost in the shell

A dead man walking

Who doesn’t even know.

Who can’t separate the yes from the no

The self, from the show.

A faded picture of what was meant to be

Before life bent your knee.

***

Can you feel it?

The optical illusion ingrained in your retina

Fused to your nerves, smothering any expression of

Individuality, truth, and personality

Manifestation of sentimentality

A hint of originality

Without a trace of banality

Just glorious humanity.

***

Hello? Is there anybody still there?

Is there anyone home?

You can’t even tell me where it hurts

Because you’re surrounded by constructs.

The child is grown

The dream is gone.

No more!

***

It doesn’t have to be this way

You still have very much a say

Regardless of the shades of grey

Of all the figurines of clay

Distractions to make you sway.

The price is just too much to pay.

***

Pull down the veil and truly see

Breathe in, breathe out, and let yourself be free.

It won’t go down easy, but how sweet it will be

When all parts of you will finally agree

That feeling right is key.

***

Return to your origins

Shed the numbness and choruses

That tell you how life is.

Go home and roam

Your inner possibilities

Endless capabilities

True affinities

Authentic festivities

Without toxicities.

***

Wonderful infinities

Of a self reunited

Rediscovered

Refused

Recovered

Round, complete, bountiful.

***

Listen to your soul

Set yourself a goal.

Home is being whole.

Dear reader, thank you for taking this journey with me. I grew up with Pink Floyd, Comfortably Numb ringing in my ears. Even though the message is different from what I wanted to do with this poem, the first two lines inspired me to find my own meaning of home, of being there. May it inspire you forevermore.

Home is being whole.
